Caiden does not like the treatment.

So it all started Friday when Caiden started to have a cough. I didn't think anything about it thought is as normal. Then Sunday he was so not him self HIGH fever, and he did not SLEEP at all that night. I got the feeling that I should take him in cause he was not eatting or drinking.

So we went to the see our great Dr. Sialis. It as funny we did not even make it in to the room and Caiden started coughing, they did a FLU Test = Negative, Strep Test= Negative

So Dr.Sialis comes in and listens to his Lungs , look's in his ears and throat and look's at me and said the THREE LETTERS THAT I WAS DREADEING

So Caiden get's to do Breathing Treatments ever 4 hours. As you can see he does not like them.

He slept a little better last night. But the bad news is that I can't take him to daycare the rest of the week. So WE ARE STUCK HOME FOR A WEEK. :(

WOW has it really been a year ? ? Where has this year gone ? Think one year ago today I was in the hospital trying to keep this little one In for a little while longer. What a year of milestones. 16 days in the NICU, Many trips down to Primaries for the Kidney doctor, Many memories of Braxton and Caiden playing together. Caiden is doing well for being 6 weeks early. Caiden is crawling like a monster. Getting ready to take of walking any day. Caiden is saying "Dada" "Momma" , "Hi", and "Hey". LOVE MONKEYS . I do have to say that this is the First cake that I made. I have usually had store bought cakes. My mom and sister and I have recently taken a cake decorating class and I figured I would try out my new skills. What do you think ?

Sorry I have not blogged in a while so I have a few big things to say.

1) we have out first ER visit with Caiden. This was not fun!!! Caiden had a rash on his bottom half of his body that would not go away. He had a fever and I decided to take him in the Urgent care and they ran a bunch of test. . . . Found nothing then the doctor came in and was asking a ton of questions. She was asking a ton of questions about the Rash( I started to freak out now). She told me that this Rash was HSP(long medical name that I can't remember). HSP affects your KIDNEYS(Broke down now). She informed me that we need to go to the ER for blood work and to run more tests. OK so I am with Caiden and Brax at the Urgent Care trying to hold it together till I get out the door. I made it to the door of my car and lost it. Called Gary and told him to we have to head to the ER. Dropped Brax off at my parents(thanks mom and dad). Went to the ER. Got there at 7pm did not leave till 12:30am. Let me tell you not fun!!! Everything turned out OK we just have to watch him with any rash now. But Let me tell you what a Happy Kid even in the ER. Here are a few pictures to show you what a good kid he is. . .

Caiden 9 Months

So I know that I have been a slacker lately, I am sorry!!!! Caiden turned 9 months on the 14Th.(wow does time FLY!!!!) We happened to be doing Family Pictures that day and we snapped some of Caiden. So we went to the doctors and here are the status

Weight 19.2 lbs *-* 30%

Height 26.7 inches *-* 80%

Caiden has two bottom teeth and his top two are coming in. He is so close to crawling he gets up on all 4's and rock's back and forth.

We also went to the Kidney Doctor as well. The left kidney is gone which is what they told me was going to happen. The right kidney is at 95% which is good growing big to compensates for not having the left one.

It was so much fun!!!!We are so please to have a healthy and happy baby !!

8 Months Old

Wow does time Fly!!!! Caiden is 8 months !!!! Caiden has 2 teeth on the bottom.

He is rolling like crazy!!!

He weights 17.9lbs(thanks to our doctors visit Friday night)

Caiden is starting to crawl he is scooting all over and rolling all over !!! We go to the Kidney Doctor and have his 9Th month old visit.

Where has the time gone? I can't believe that 6 months ago our little Caiden Lloyd Cooper decided to join our family. He was in a hurry to join our fun loving family! I took him to the doctor yesterday, and the doctor is really impressed with how well his is doing!!! He said that if he did not know that he was 6 weeks early he would never be able to tell. He is rolling over, pushing him self up on his tummy, talking and smiling away. I do have to say that Caiden is the happiest baby that I have known. He is always smiling. He is such a joy to have in our family.

Sunday we blessed Caiden Lloyd Cooper. Gary did such a great job!!!! It was really nice. Then we had the family over to the house for a brunch. It was really nice to see how many people acutally cared enough to show up and show there support for us. Thanks again for of our friends and family that came.

Caiden's Birth Announcement

I hope that you have received your birth announcements by now. I know that I was late getting them out !!! I am so sorry about that. I would also like to let everyone know that Caiden is doing much better!!!! No more FLU !!!! YEAH !!!!

Influenza A & B

Ok so all weekend Caiden has not been acting like him self. So Sunday we went down to my cousin Drews homecoming and he was really not acting like him self so we came home right after the meeting. When we got home Caiden vomited all over. I was depating on wether or not to go to work today. Cause when I woke up Caiden has a fever and i feed him and he vomited the whole thing back up. So I called the doc and he said to bring him in to get him checked with his Kidney issues. So I took him in to the doc and found that he has Both Influenza A and Influenza B. Which is not good. The good new's that he has gaid weight since his last visit he is not 11 lbs. We have to go back to the doctor on Thursday!!! I will keep you updated!!!!

So Caiden is now 2 months old. WOW time fly's by fast. We went to the doctor today.

First Trip to Primary's

**SORRY LONG POST**

Today we had a appointment with Dr Matthew M. Grinsell, at the University of Utah. But prior to this appointment we had to go to Primary's to get a renal ultrasound. OK I better back up and tell you why we had to go down here in the first place.

Caiden had or still has we are not sure yet, a blood clot in his left Kidney. They found this out in the NICU 3 day's prior to his discharge. They said that he had some blood in his urine so they did an ultrasound and found the blood clot in the left kidney.

They told me that i would need to follow up with my pediatrician to do a f/u UA and a possible nother ultrasound, and an appointment with the Nephrologist down at Primary's if the blood clot was still there and the was still blood in his urine. Which there was so that brings us up today.

We(my mom went with me since Gary had to work) went to get the ultrasound and they were really nice down there. I could tell something was not right when the ultrasound tech called for the Radiologist to come and look at the ultrasound. He came in and looked at the ultrasound and asked for his history. I gave him this and he asked if we had an appointment with the Nephrologist(Kidney doc). I told him that we had one today following the ultrasound. He informed us that Caiden's left kidney is smaller and not functioning to its full capacity.

So he told us that he would call Dr. Grinsell and let them know what they had found.

So we headed over to see Dr. Grinsell he is a really nice doctor. What we found out is that Caiden only has one kidney that works, but he can survive on just the one Kidney , There is a small chance that the left kidney will come out of the non functioning but will never be a normal kidney. Caiden WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY SPORTS, Even with the non functioning kidney. Caiden will be able to do everything that a normal child or person can do. We will have to watch his blood pressure for the rest of his life since only having one kidney.

I asked the doctor's why he got the blood clot in the first place. Dr. Grinsell said that blood clots are more common in Preemie baby's. Another factor is the ART line that he had in his umbilical cord was another factor. He thinks that Caiden is doing well and need to come back in 3 months for Lab's and another ultrasound. I will keep everyone updated on this.

ONE MONTH OLD!!!

So the last month has gone by SO FAST !!! I can't believe that my baby is a month old!!! He is such a joy in our lives !!! It is a true blessing to have such a sweet little angle here on earth with us!!! I also wanted to thank everyone that has helped with this feeding's and babysitting Braxton. Caiden is doing great!!! Caiden eats every 3-4 hours, not sleeping through the night yet but I am hoping soon!!

So tonight we gave Caiden his first Bath !!! Thanks to Grammy Poulsen!!! Caiden loves the bath just like his daddy and Braxton. He really likes it when I wash his hair.
Caiden had a doctor's appointment today just to that the pediatrician could look over him and see how thing are. Caiden is 6 LBS 15 oz. 20 1/2 inches long. So he is growing which is good. He still has a little bit of blood in his urine. So we do have to head down to primary to see the kidney doctor down there.
It has been so nice to have the whole family back together!!!

Caiden Update 2.16.09

Ok I want to keep everyone up to date with what is going on with Caiden. I have been pumping since last night hoping that Caiden would be able to start eating today!?!?!?! Which in it's self is a blessing since it did not work with Braxton.

So I told my mom that if she wanted to come and hold Caiden she would need to be at the hospital at 11am. So we went over to the NICU and I got to change Caiden's diaper, ,let me tell you that was a great moment it made me feel like a REAL NEW MOM, Not someone that had surgery and is in the hospital.
So then the nurse asked it I would like to attempt to feed him which did not work at the 8 am feeding. This time Caiden seemed a little more interested in the whole situation. So when we were done with the whole nursing thing. My mom and I switched places and she got to hold Caiden which was really cute. My mom has been the first person on both Braxton and Caiden to hold them besides Gary and I. Let me tell you that is a moment that I will never forget !!!!
So his blood sugars are stable and his bil has gone up which is what they wanted.
I am so greatful for the wounderful nurses adddnd respetory people. It makes it a little easier know that he is being well taken care of while I am away!!!!

Update on Caiden

OK so today is Day # 3 in the NICU, Caiden is doing so great !!! His blood sugars are doing so great he has had 5 stable one's which is GREAT!!!! He is starting to act like he is hungry so we are going to TRY and start to feed him today!!!! I went over the at 7 am to check on him. I got to hold him for the 2ND time today for a total of 3o Min's (So Far hopefully) . I will try and keep the blog updated with picture and updates as much as I can. My doctor is coming in the lunch hour so we will see what the plan is then. Thanks again to all those that have been up to see us and check on us and Thanks to my mom and dad for taking Care of the First munchkin.

Hospital Trip # 1

Well we had a little of excitement last night. I got home from work and had been having contractions all day. But when I got home they were getting close and stronger. Gar asked me what I wanted to do tonight...... I told him we are going to the HOSPITAL !!!! I am having contractions 5 Min's apart. Gar was so sweet the whole way to the hospital he was asking me how are you what is your pain at ? The funny thing is that every time he asked me the speed of the car kept getting higher and higher

So we get to the hospital and they check me in and hook me up to the monitors. (If you take your 3 1/2 year old Bring TOYS!!!!) Brax and Gar were so sweet to stay with me. My contractions got to be 3 Min's apart at this time. So Dr. Smithing was called and talked to me told me that I have to have 3 test done. A Group B Strep, a fFN(to see if I was in pre term labor), and a cervix check. Gar and Brax went and got dinner during these tests.


So the contractions got to be 1-2 mins apart. So I was told that I would have to stay over night and get med's to try and stop the contractions. I got in a room at 11:00. Gar and Brax when home and Brax got to spend the next morning at Grandma Poulsen's house (THANKS GRANDMA FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!!) ! Gar had to work today.


So I still was having contractions at 3:30 am got more meds!!!! Stopped the contractions. Dr. Smithing let me go home, as long as I don't lift the "Mini Coop" and lay down and to call him if the contractions start up again.


Also THANKS DAD for coming and picking me up at the hospital and taking me to get Brax and taking us home!!!! I am still having contractions but not to bad!!!! So hopefuly we can keep Caiden baking a few week's longer.
